Accident Life Insurance For Visitors to US and Abroad

by C. Ray Sondeo

Visitor health insurance is gaining wide popularity off late. There are mainly made available to cover the risk of accidents that a person may encounter during his visit to abroad. Plans can also be extended to provide coverage in situations like terrorist and war attacks. Nowadays many countries are on a higher risk when it comes to issuing insurance for overseas travelers.

In case of visits to such countries, your safety assumes prime importance. In such countries you need effective visitor health insurance plans. You also get certain benefits if you face any difficulties during war or a terrorist attack. Under this insurance plan, the premium you pay is combined with the premiums paid by others and thus a central pool of money is formed. This pool of money is utilized for the payment of medical bills of the beneficiaries. You remain covered as long as you are paying the premium.

Once you purchase a visitor medical insurance, the insurance company will provide you with an identification card that you need to display when you seek medical assistance from a hospital or doctor. The insurance company will supply written instructions for the probable medical expenses that can be claimed under your policy.

The insurance company will assess any claim you register as against the visitor insurance and make the suitable payment to the clinic or the hospital under your policy. Some companies may pay the bills directly, while other may reimburse you for the payments you make to the clinic or hospital in case of an accident.

Visitor health insurance also is important and it can be required for several reasons. Taking an appointment with a doctor, can prove to be inconvenient and a time consuming process, so emergency care services are provided by most hospitals. The aim of these speedy medical care services is that you get medical care services on time quickly and you do not have to wait for an appointment.

These services are required if you suffer from unexpected injuries or acute illness, especially when you travel. If these services get delayed, you may probably have to face disastrous results. Delay in such cases may result in a permanent physical impairment, or in worst cases, even loss of life. For example, unexpected happenings can be poisonings, heart attacks, road accidents, inability to breathe and so on. Thus, visitors insurance can protect you from uncertainties of life.

Urgent care can be a part of visitor medical insurance that will also include less serious medications that may require prompt attention. For example, a fractured leg or an ankle. Some of the comprehensive features of visitor medical insurance includes personal accidents and assistance plan for global travelers. These plans also provide coverage for accidental death and dismemberment and total disability insurance.

The bodily losses which can arise during a war or terrorist attack are also covered under these plans. However note that though most companies provide it in the form of an extension or add-on to the plan, there are some companies who provide it under the basic travel assistance scheme. Most plans also include facilities regarding ordinary medical conditions or assistance whenever required. It also considers travelers’ liability in an accident, disease, etc. Due to all this visitor health insurance is a must for a modern day traveler.

Carnival Cruises – A Popular Vacation Destination!

Carnival Cruises made cruise travel accessible to everyone. From their image as the “Fun Ship” to adding children’s programs that were much more than babysitting, Carnival priced cruises so that families could afford to travel together.

To further open the cruise travel options that didn’t make you go to Miami, Los Angeles or New York, Carnival was a pioneer in adding regional drive-to ports so you could board the ship in New Orleans, Jacksonville, Port Canaveral, Norfolk, Charleston, Galveston, Long Beach and Mobile.

In breaking with the old image of cruising as the place for stuffy rich folks and making it appealing to younger travelers, Carnival created highly successful packages for weddings at sea and family reunions.

The Carnival line is the most aggressive in adding state of the art new ships to the fleet. Among the features of the newer ships are interior upgrades in the public areas - but even more personal to the passengers are the new Carnival Comfort Beds.

Each cabin has beds with deluxe comfort mattresses, high quality linens and soft pillows. Even standard cabins have a plush bathrobe waiting for you. Another health-related feature is the increased restriction of smoking in public areas.

The fun on deck often centers around the pool area - from the poolside snack service to the twists and turns of the water slide. Of course the now traditional “belly-flop” pool contest is worth watching.

Some of the Carnival Ships have a retractable cover over the pool area so you can enjoy it year round. If you like water activities in a calmer way, check in at the luxurious Nautica Spa or Spa Carnival for quiet enjoyment in the steam room or whirlpool. Whether you stay for a massage and facial or work off lunch in the well-equipped fitness center, the spa is a kid-free zone.

So certain that Carnival could live up to its motto of “exceeding expectations,” they were the first line to give a vacation satisfaction guarantee. If passengers are not enjoying their cruise, they can leave the ship at the first port and receive a refund. Needless to say that passengers find little interest in this option once they get their “sea legs” and start getting involved in the many wonderful activities onboard.

Another popular upgrade for the entire Carnival Cruise line is with food service.  Passengers are no longer required to choose early or late seating, report at a certain time and dine at the same table.

Carnival’s Total Choice Dining offers four dinner times in the main dining, plus other specialty restaurants on the ship. Some ships have an Asian cuisine restaurant, New York Deli, Sushi Bar or Supper Club. You can dine in casual clothes or select a restaurant where dress is as uptown as the meal.

Carnival Cruises is also the parent company of a growing family of smaller cruises lines. That’s a real benefit because repeat guests receive great discounts for future cruises. You can also get excellent deals for groups of any size including scheduling some private functions for your colleagues or family reunion.

Finding a Reputable Travel Agency

Hiring a travel agency to take care of all your travel planning needs can take all the headaches and time consuming work out of it for you, but how do you really know the travel agency you want to hire is a reputable one? Here are some things to keep in mind when choosing a travel agency for your upcoming vacation

Make sure they’re associated with ASTA (American Society of Travel Agents) organization. This means that the traveling agency has strict rules and regulations they have to adhere to. It makes it easier for you to file a complaint against an agency in case you need to.

Be sure they don’t over exaggerate their deals. Every travel agency would like to get your business, but some will try to get you the best deal and won’t tell you everything you need to hear.

Make sure you have their contact information. If you go through an online travel agency, be sure they have their contact information clearly visible. There should be a phone number, address and an email address.

If all you’re presented with is an email address, move on to another agency. A reputable agency will have no problem showing their contact information. It also doesn’t hurt to try calling their phone number to talk to a live person and see if the number is for real.

Watch for hidden fees.  Reputable agencies will lay out the deals exactly as they are. The ones that aren’t legit tend to promise low rates and then charge you for extra fees once they’ve reeled you into their trap.  Get every fee in writing.

Reputable agencies will go out of their way to make your trip as pleasant as possible. If you need handicap-accessible items, they’ll go out of their way to make sure you’re well taken care of. The ones that aren’t good are only interested in getting your money and not your return business.

Reputable agencies are there for you even when you’re on your trip and come across a problem. They work with you before, during and even after your trip to ensure everything goes smoothly. Bad ones tend to disappear after you’ve paid them for their services.

A reputable agency will offer some tips for your travel plans and let you know about a country’s culture so you can play it safe while on your vacation. They’re always on the lookout for any dangers that may occur in the country you want to visit and will alert you if there’s a problem.

Some sell you their package and disappear after that, leaving you on your own.  Travel agencies do all of the work for you so that all you have to worry about is having fun on your vacation.

St. Peter’s Basilica - A Vatican Highlight When In Rome

by Jill Kammer

Any tourist to Rome will tell you that the attraction formerly known as Basilica di San Pietro and now called St. Peter’s Basilica stands out as one of the best. In fact, there is so much to see at St. Peter’s, you could spend an entire day here and still want to come back again. Of the many buildings in Vatican City, St. Peter’s is one of the most popular and most frequently visited by tourists to Rome.

The heart of the appeal of the site is the legend that Saint Peter himself was buried there even though there is no real proof of that idea. What we do know is that the basilica is located on the spot that was probably the Circus of Nero during the first century AD.

The site was selected for a basilica when Constantine, the Christian Emperor of Rome ordered one built there in the fourth century. That first building was constructed a thousand years before St. Peter’s was located there.

Hundreds of years later construction started on St. Peter’s Basilica using funds diverted from the holy war with the Turks by Pope Leo X.

But like most large scale construction efforts during this phase in history, it took decades to finish the church in the late 16th century and the project had many architects and was overseen by several Popes before it was done.

By medieval standards, St. Peter’s is a tall church towering 445 feet from the floor of the church to the cross that is on top of that well known dome. Roman citizens are very familiar with that dome decorating the skyline of the city because it is a masterpiece of architecture in every respect. That dome was designed by the famous artist and architect from the Renaissance, Michelangelo. It was he who took the San Gallo double-shell design and perfected it to fit the needs of St. Peter’s.

Even though Michelangelo was made the architect in charge of St. Peter’s in 1546, the completion of the masterpiece came long after his death. With the passing of the great master, one of his students, Giacomo della Porta went on to complete the work in 1590. The design plans of the brilliant architects of St. Peter’s are often utilized in other great buildings including the Capital Building in Washington DC.

That dome was a durable design and it was 200 years later that the first cracks showed up in the surface. To contain these cracks from doing any more damage, four huge chains of iron were attached to the inside of the shell. If you were to climb the winding stairs between the dome shells, you would still see those chains today.

That magnificent dome is not all there is to St. Peter’s Basilica. The interior space of the basilica covers six acres and it can accommodate 60,000 worshipers. And there have been several occasions where it was called upon to host that many people. The many Popes who have used St. Peter’s to minister to the church have drawn in such crowds.

Step outside the huge building and you will find the large faade which stands some 377 feet wide and over 148 feet tall. In addition, there are a number of fine sculpture art pieces that decorate the outside of St. Peter’s.

It is said that there are over one hundred tombs of famous historical figures inside the walls of St. Peter’s. One notable example is the former Queen of Sweden, Christina who in 1654 laid down her crown so she could have the freedom to become a Catholic.

There is no doubt that the most revered and valuable art work in the basilica is Michelangelo’s Pieta. You will find it behind protective glass after a lunatic attacked it with an ax in 1972.

From the exterior of the basilica, there are a number of worthwhile historical things to look for.

Look for several very old clocks, including one that actually has a bell and dates back to the last part of the thirteenth century. From that same time period, an Egyptian style obelisk stands nearby, the origin of which goes back to Nero’s Circus.

As is true all over Rome, two wonderful artistic fountains can be found in the square outside St. Peter’s. On the south side is a fountain made by the brilliant artist, Bernini who created it in 1675. Bernini also created the second fountain near the apse of the church, the Triumph of the Chair of Saint Peter which is not to be missed.

Your visit to Rome will take on new meaning if you allow at least a couple of hours to take your time and admire this awe inspiring example of Renaissance architecture in the Eternal City.

Holidays to Cuba.

by Jose Mauricio Maurette

At this point you might have already decided that Cuba is the place that you want to visit for your next long hold destination but perhaps need some guidance on the actual booking process. This might seem a little bit trivial but it is without doubt not the case trying to arrange a holiday to Cuba .

The truth is that this Caribbean island is becoming ever more popular every year and this creates a dilemma for some travel agents . Cuba is not a late booking destination, at least not if you are planning to go in the so called high season.

In Cuba high season, includes Easter period and the summer months of July and August, predominantly popular for people travelling with kids . November, December, January, February and March are awfully trendy months particularly for travellers from Europe looking for the Tropic to avoid few days of depressing weather.

Quite often I get customers asking me to sort out a package holiday for them in the above mentioned months , but sometimes the enquiry comes too late . This is frustrating, equally for the customer and myself . For one simple thing , I just can not recommend holiday worth it because all the popular resorts and best hotels are completely booked, and then I am left with the only honest response I can give. “I am really sorry but at this point there is nothing available that I feel comfortable recommending ”

If you want to stay in big resorts then there is not much to worry about. The difficulty presents it self when customers are interested in combining areas like Havana, Viales Valley, Las Terrazas, Cienfuegos, Trinidad and or Santiago de Cuba. cities like these with the exception of Havana are very difficult when it comes to hotel availabilities.

If you have your mind set to arrange a tailor made holiday to Cuba in a popular season my advice to you is to start with the arrangements at least 4 months prior to departure in order to secure not only the rooms in your preferred hotels but also the best deal from the carriers . If you regrettably did not come across this piece of writing before and are thinking about a multi centre holiday to Cuba, there is always a possibility to find something available but is not going to be the kind of holiday that we wish for you.

In the case of low season months is very easy to find availabilities and good deals in terms of price and it really does not matter much when you call. Even so we feel very confident to put together the kind of itinerary that will fulfil your holidays

I truly hope you have found this article a useful resource and wish you the very best when visiting Cuba .
