What to Expect on an Adventure Cruise

by Willie Strongarm

For years, tourists have been enjoying northwest Australia’s Kimberley Region, as well as the almost a thousand islands just off the coast. They offer secluded beaches, beautiful bays, mangroves and rainforests, and they’re best seen by boat.

Cruises can be found to fit any interest, from photography and birdwatching to beach combing, fishing and hiking. Longer trips allow for island exploration and swimming in waters that are home to jewel-like fish, dolphins, turtles and more.

You’ll get the chance to check out jewel like fish, sea turtles, sharks, birds, whales and even saltwater crocodiles, as well as the unique erosions of Strickland Bay. Check out the pure white silica beach at Hidden Island and the iron mine on Kooland Island.

You’ll also have the chance to see Aboriginal art, waterfalls and pearl farms and to collect oysters or fish near the coral reef. Some cruises offer the day’s catch as a meal choice to anglers.

Talbot Bay’s Horizontal Falls are a sight to be seen, with a real, horizontal waterfall caused by the flow of the tide through a narrow cliff passage. The water builds up in front of the narrow gap faster than it can go through creating a water level difference of four to six meters on either side, and making a waterfall between the bays.

These falls have been described as one of the greatest natural wonders of the world. However, it’s important to see them on a cruise or under other safe circumstances, since extreme water conditions in this area have been responsible for many years of fatalities among pearl divers and sailors.

The good news is that if you’re in the right situation, you’ll be safe, with boats even passing through the waterfall. People looking for less of a thrill can see this site in a dry seaplane or helicopter.

Look for cruises that do most of their distance travel at night if you want to be sure to have the most time on the islands themselves. In addition, look at what’s included in the tour - some include fishing and snorkeling gear as well as meals and snacks, while on others, these things cost extra.

If you’re planning on an Australian adventure cruise, you’ll need to take the right clothes, like lightweight fabrics that keep you cool, good walking shoes you don’t mind getting wet and a wide brimmed hat. Don’t forget to keep insect repellent and sunscreen, and keep your camera close to hand.

Most tours happen during the dry season, between April and November, but some also occur during Australia’s wet season, since there are lots of places to shelter in rough weather. Pick your cruise according to what you want to see and how exciting you want the weather to be.

If you’d love a real adventure, Kimberly adventure cruises on a quality ship are a good choice. Make sure you pick one that lasts long enough to allow you to see everything, and find out all the details about your cruise before you go. You’ll have a great time and experience things you’ve never seen before.

Costa del Sol Holiday Villas - Advice and Tips

by Steve Woodward

Of all the tourists destinations one can go to in Spain the most popular of them all is the Costa Del Sol which stretches along the Spanish coastline for more than 150km. The biggest reason for this particular area of Spain being so popular with tourists is that it offers good weather to them all year round.

This part of Spain is separated into two distinct areas both of which extend out east and west from the capital city of Malaga Province, Malaga City. On the eastern side you will find that the province stretches for 54km from the city of Malaga and heads towards Grenada.

The other 100km of coastline that makes up Malaga province again starts on the western side of Malaga city but goes as far as the border with Cadiz Province. This is the area where most development has been taking place and where many tourists will spend their holidays.

The main airport that provides people with easy access to the resorts in Malaga province is the international airport at Malaga and which annually has more than 2 million passengers passing through its gates each year. The main resorts that many of these people will then head for are Marbella, Fuengirola, Benalmadena, Torremolinos and Nerja.

The vast majority of those who come to the Costa del Sol will spend time relaxing on the beach this area of Spain has plenty more to offer to its visitors. In fact today this area has become a popular destination throughout the year with those who enjoy playing golf. The region now has more than 70 golf courses which can be played at and is earning a new name of “Costa del Golf”.

As well as the golf courses there are plenty of other activities that visitors to the area can enjoy including scuba diving, sailing, wind surfing, dolphin safaris and horse riding. For those who would like to try something a little different or more strenuous then taking a trip further inland is worth considering.

If you are someone who has been rock climbing before the Province of Malaga offers a location called El Chorro. This is a very popular location in Spain with climbers from around the world and is especially popular with them during the winter months.

For those who would rather just relax and unwind then spending time in Marbella, Torremolinos and Benalmadena are great locations for doing this. You have the best of both worlds, great beaches and beautiful bars and restaurants to eat and drink in as well.

Malaga is very much a commercial city at heart but still has plenty to offer those who visit the city for a day. Along with the Port and Old Quarter, one can take in the Roman theatre and the Moorish Palace. Plus this is where the world renowned artiste Picasso was born and lived and so time should be taking to visit the Picasso Museum whilst in Malaga.

Certainly of all the tourist destinations to be offered around Spain the Costa del Sol is one that offers so much more than a relaxing beach holiday. This is probably one of the reasons why so many people return year after year.
